Hello my name is Rhyan Sigmeth. I am a 2nd year Elementary Education student here at the University of Regina. While in this program I have gained a deep passion for creating an inclusive, safe, caring environment for students to flourish. This portfolio includes my journey as a future educator and the goals I have set for my future.
About Me
Growing up I have always been involved in sports. As I have gotten older I have leaned more towards a coaching role as well as playing. I first began university as a Health Science major. I had felt like it just was not right and I was lost. As I continued to coach in the game of softball I realized how much I enjoyed helping kids grow and learn and how impactful we can be as role models towards them. This realization led me to switching majors into Elementary Education. After this I then transferred from Valley City State University, where I was attending school and playing softball, to the University of Regina to continue my academic and athletic journey. Through my journey thus far I have found a passion for teaching and creating the best learning environment for the future generation.

Grounded in Saskatchewan
I am from Lumsden, Saskatchewan which is a small town about 20 minutes outside of Regina. Growing up in this small town gave me a strong sense of community and belonging which I hope to bring into my future classroom. It allows me to be proud of where I come from and I try my best to better the community every day.
