More than just a teacher

On the field and in the community

My free time is often spent on the softball diamond, both playing and coaching. I also love getting active with workouts, exploring the outdoors, and moments with friends, family, and my pets. These activities are more than just fun, they are used for developing certain skills. Through sport, I learn about teamwork, leadership, and the joy of teaching younger children the sport. My passion for art and crafts also allows for a huge amount  of creativity and social interaction, qualities I realize are essential for having an engaging learning environment.

Skills in action

I'm proud to contribute to the local sports scene by helping coach a travel team known as Sask Swagger. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to help young athletes in a positive way. A highlight from this past summer was celebrating a national championship win with my softball team. These achievements, alongside my artistic interests, showcase my ability to achieve goals, collaborate, and inspire others.

Becoming a well-rounded educator

The skills I have gained through my hobbies fully translate into my approach to my teaching journey. The creativity I express in art, the problem-solving I practice on the field, and the patience I develop while working with many different groups all contribute to my ability to connect with and support young children. Spending time outdoors and engaging with my community inspires me, giving perspective and empathy that are so important to me in the classroom.
